"In a society that profits from your self doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act."

Hello my friends, and happy midweek!
I'm taking a slight break from the food posting to resume with a little #ootd!
However I feel as if this post taps a tad bit into some ~ emotional ~ baggage. No, I'm only joking! But really, these photos did cause a tiny conflict inside my head. I was going back and forth on whether I should post them or keep them saved on my phone. And the reason being, as silly as it might sound to an outsider is I'be always been suuuuper insecure about my ears. In case for some reason you haven't noticed they are quite.... on the larger side of things. I feel as if everyone has cute petite lil ears but nope, not me!
Honestly guys, the struggle is real when you love updo's and braids but you feel the need to wear your hair down all the time to hide your massive ears!!! Luckily, I've learned to except that they are a part of me and not going anywhere. I actually don't recall the last time I felt I had to wear my hair down out of embarrassment. Unfortunately this was a very common pattern throughout my childhood up until around highschool.
This post isn't supposed to be a rant about vanity. Please don't get me wrong, on the contrary I'm very grateful for my ears and good hearing. It's definitely not something I take for granted. I just wanted to open up about an issue that has always caused a lack of self esteem in myself. I'm on a journey of enlightenment and self love. Lately it's been getting easier to look at my flaws and honestly say that I accept and love them. I'm not saying everyday is like that, but most are and I'm so proud of that. I just wanted to give a friendly reminder that we are all human and have flaws! But we can't allow these flaws to destroy us. Rather they are a part of us and we need to accept them and show them some love as well. Everyone is unique and it's part of what makes life so wonderful and refreshing. In case you haven't heard it latley, you ARE good enough and kindness makes you the most beautiful person in the world. No matter what you look like!

  1. I think you look amazing in these photos. If anything, your ears attract attention to how pretty, and pixie-esq your face is.
That lippie is a great colour on you too.
